Frequently asked questions
In the first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you and your reasons for seeking therapy. You’ll have space to share what feels important, and we’ll discuss how we might work together.
This session is also an opportunity to answer any questions you have and to make sure the pace and approach feel right for you.
Starting therapy for the first time can feel daunting, and that is completely understandable. You do not need to have everything figured out before you get in touch, or know exactly what you want to say.
We will go at your pace, and there is no pressure to share more than you feel ready to. The first session is simply a chance for us to meet and begin thinking together about what you might need.
Yes. Everything you share is treated as confidential and handled in accordance with the ethical standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
If there are any limits to confidentiality, these will be clearly explained so you understand what to expect.
I support individuals affected by domestic and sexual abuse, childhood and complex trauma, and Not Parent Expected (NPE) experiences, where the discovery of unexpected parentage can profoundly shake your sense of identity and belonging.
I also support people across a range of other areas. To find out more, visit my How I Can Help page.
Both are talking therapies and in practice very similar. Counselling tends to be shorter-term, focusing on specific current challenges. Psychotherapy is often longer term, exploring deeper emotional and psychological patterns rooted in the past.
The depth and direction of our work is led by you. I use the word counselling to describe all the work I do, whatever form that takes.
Yes. Working with trauma is at the heart of what I do. I have extensive experience supporting people affected by domestic and sexual abuse, childhood trauma, and complex trauma, and I work in a trauma-informed way throughout.
This means that your safety will always come first. We will never go faster than you are ready for, and you will always have a say in how we work together.
I offer both online and in-person sessions. We can meet via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, or face to face in a private therapy room in Greenwich, SE10. We can consider together which format feels most comfortable and supportive for you.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and typically take place once a week, though fortnightly sessions can also be arranged. This consistency helps establish a steady rhythm, providing the secure foundation needed for meaningful therapeutic work.
Sessions are £60. Online sessions are paid by bank transfer at least 24 hours before we meet. For in-person sessions, payment can be made by cash or bank transfer before the session.
Discounted block bookings are available, feel free to get in touch to find out more.
Please give at least 48 hours' notice for any cancellations or changes to your scheduled session. Full session fees apply for cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice.
